Calling the police might not have been a bad idea, if someone were to ask Hadyn. He sat, gasping for air as if he simply could not get enough. Whatever his father had to had to say to Jordan before the front door slammed shut was lost on him. But his hands were shaking, he was shaking.
Looking up at Jordan, though, he imagined he couldn't have been a pretty picture. He could feel the bruising around his neck, and just swallowing hurt. As an Emergency Physician, he knew best of all that the damage done was serious enough to warrant an Urgent Care visit at the very least.
But what the hell was he supposed to say to the doctor?
"I didn't expect him," he said hoarsely as he pushed himself up to his feet. "Guess we're not going home for Christmas..." Not that they'd planned on it to start with.
