primamateria: (You'll always remain)

Daniel would tell Gaël that as much as it hurt, as much as he wasn't...exactly happy now, he wouldn't have given up the almost thirty years he had with Léon for anything. He wouldn't have given up Gaël and Noelle for anything, either. He gave Gaël's shoulder a squeeze as he fished his phone out of his pocket and leaned back a bit. Even after today he drew the line at reading his son's text messages over his shoulder.

He smiled a little as Gaël spoke, though, his voice still rough from crying. "Yeah?" He said, raising his brows, and he leaned forward in hopes of seeing a nineteen year old college kid.

...Nope. Definitely not nineteen. But also not thirty-five, so maybe he should take what he could get here.

"He's cute." Hispanic, if Daniel wasn't mistaken, with very short hair and a wicked grin. He could see the appeal, which was probably just proof that he wasn't dead yet. "How'd you meet?" he asked, leaning back against the couch. Hell, the last time he'd talked to Gaël about someone it had been Sarah Kagan, and Sarah Kagan was at college in New York now. Gaël hadn't really come to him about Claire, which hadn't stopped Daniel from knowing that she'd hurt him.

As for it not being much of anything...Daniel doubted that. If that was the case, he thought, the boy in the photograph would have never rated a mention.
