Apologies were for people in relationships, and Carlos rather firmly reminded himself frequently that the two of them were in something else. "Obviously I was disappointed that you disappeared from sight," he said, bracing his hand on the wall. On the other hand, he'd made Captain not because he was Ty Kagan's best friend, but because he was observant, and he'd seen Oliver Byrd being more determinedly charming than usual, and drinking more than he usually did - and he could make some guesses. It worried him, a little, that maybe Ty was involving him with someone a little too much like Hadyn.

But then, Ty would probably say he was playing his own dangerous game. And Ty would probably kill him if he fucked Gael Shaw in his office.

Worth it, he decided as he hooked his fingers in Gael's belt loops to tug him closer. "We're very official and important in security," he said. "Uniforms all over the place." Ty couldn't be bothered and didn't have to. It was the perk of being the boss, though Carlos didn't mind the uniform. No clothing decisions to make, and he looked important. Which, in turn, was an excellent shield when he ran into family.

"You know," he said. "I told you what I was going to do to you the next time you teased me, so I think you should tell me how you're going to make amends - for teasing me and disappearing."
