Carlos had heard about the sparring match Ollie and Ty had had. It was, really, the reason Ty had gotten really interested in the Diamond - but from what Ty had said about it, it also made fighting with Ollie dangerous. The man sounded like he was on an edge. Carlos wasn't. Carlos had his own issues, but all in all his problems in life were easily pushed aside and ignored, frankly. They rarely confronted him.
He fell back a step, his brows raising slightly. His job was half assessing the abilities of guards and wannabe guards, after all, and Gael...well, he wasn't a fighter. But he easily could be with more training. Of course, he'd been born a Spade; if he'd wanted to be a fighter, he'd be one now. It was the expression in his eyes that almost had Carlos releasing him, though. This was fun for him. This was somehow about proving himself to Gael, and there wasn't any reason for him to need to prove himself to Carlos.
But he didn't have time to really analyze that, not with Gael contorting himself in a way that almost had Carlos' grip breaking. His eyes narrowed a bit, though, and his hand tightened instead, even though he knew what Gael knew.
They were ending up in a heap on top of the gray skin rug Victoria had deemed stylish enough and he'd deemed not entirely annoying. Carlos only barely managed to twist them so he landed on top, panting a little bit as he pinned Gael's arms to the floor.
"Well, corazón, remind me not to piss you off in a dark alley."
