He'd expected, when he'd developed that, that would be the impetus for someone trying to wrest power from him. But no. That had been too soon after the events that had brought him to the rank of King in the first place. Now, people had forgotten.
"Whoever did this will die," he said in an even tone that he knew Hadyn would recognize, though it had been years. Victor would know it as well. "And as fond as I am of Jordan, I would prefer that my vengeance not be carried out by the Spades."
