[Gael & Carlos] All Men are created Equal....
It amazed Gael that no matter how old some of these musicals were, they still pulled a huge crowd. It was probably a little more shocking that he'd landed a supporting role as a freshman, or at least that was what he was told by Calvin Johnson, the lead actor in Hamilton....as Hamilton.
"You did good for the first show," Calvin said after the show, clapping Gael on the shoulder. It made him smile, because well... Calvin was hot. And straight as an arrow. Dennis McComb, who played Burr, followed Calvin out of the green room, shouting a congrates at the freshman as well. Also hot. Also straight.
"Yo, Laurens, get the hell outta here, man." Samuel, the resident Hercules Mulligan shouted at him. Gael was pretty sure that Sam didn't know his name, hence screaming out 'Laurens' whenever Sam saw him, or wanted his attention. Still, he didn't know what he expected with the upperclassmen, and he was the only freshman given a part outside the ensemble.
"Going, going," Gael assured him, as he finished changing and headed out of the theatre. Mm. Well, it was Friday night, and he didn't have a date. And it was only, oh...11. He really didn't want to head back to his dorm, so.
Mm.

In the end, though, it was just a little ridiculous to go to that length to avoid an overzealous older sister. And luckily he was busy enough on base that he could avoid the slight smothering tendencies most of the time. He got the feeling, Carlos mused as he lounged against the wall outside the theatre and waited for her to make an appearance after the first show of Hamilton, that Vic thought he was going to tumble back into delinquency, Hence his appearance here, waiting outside a hip hop version of the Revolutionary War, in which his sister was playing Angelica Schuyler opposite a mix of undergrads and grad students.
He looked up as the door swung open, but. Well. That definitely was not his sister. "Hey," he called out. "Is there a Schuyler sister in there still?"
no subject
"You, um...dating a Schuyler?" He asked, shifting his bag on his shoulder as he dug the toe of his shoe into the sidewalk. Sometimes he felt entirely out of place in San Diego, even if Noelle swore to him it would pass. He'd make friends. "You know you can go in and find her, Jefferson isn't that distracting except when he is."
no subject
But then, so was this one.
"Carlos Sánchez," he said. "If Vic is getting her flirt on, I should give up on her."
no subject
"Gaël Shaw." He said, "or as my cast members usually call me- Laurens. Which, tragically, I am starting to answer to."
Ah well, it was bound to happen. "so...if you're going to give up on waiting....how about a drink?"
no subject
As for a drink, he shrugged and tipped his head to one side with the same killer smile his sister was probably using on Jefferson. "I wouldn't hate a beer. Anywhere in mind?"
no subject
"And good, I wasn't looking forward getting a drink alone." Gaël said as he turned to head off campus and toward the closest bars. "And I find that is just never fun."
no subject
In reality, it was probably the young part that caused that particular thing.
"I usually go out with my class at the base. There's nothing quite like twenty sailors marching into a bar to make it a party." Easy to lose yourself in the crowd there, too. Since Carlos was a little more on the introverted side, that was a bonus.
no subject
Ah well.
"Oh, a man in uniform. Must be a sirens call from the ladies as you walk in the bar." Gaël said with a wink, as they walked. "But, um. I have to ask something, as a man in uniform and most likely not predisposed to watching musicals- how was it?"
no subject
Of course, he also thought Hamilton and Laurens had a bit of a thing going, but maybe not mention that one.
"Keep in mind that the enlisted Navy uniform is kind of like what's on crackerjack," he said. "But yeah, the straight dudes definitely get their share of attention from girls when we come in." Which was a blunt indication that Carlos? Not straight, not even a little bit.
no subject
But, the crackerjack comment made him laugh, as he shook his head. And then nodded, just a little more. So. Not straight? Good to know. "Go to the right places, you'd get the boys too." Gaël said innocently. "But for now, I guess you'll have to settle for me? Not that I think I'm settling. If you don't mind that the rest of the chest mostly towers over me."
no subject
He produced a fake id for his own drink, before they made their way up to the balcony. It was slightly less crowded, but still difficult to find space enough for both of them to stand and talk. Though they would have to lean in to each other to be heard.
"What are you doing in the Navy?" He asked, tilting his head a little as he waited.
no subject
"You majoring in theatre?" he asked. "Or just doing it for fun?" Might as well get the awkward niceties out of the way.
no subject
"Me? I....am a major. Um, sort of been working toward it a lot of my life." He'd auditioned for plays and musicals in Chicago as he'd grown up. So, technically, he was already working. Or had been. Something like that. "And I am told that I have the pleasure of joining a small club with being a freshmen cast as a supporting role. Who knows, in the Spring I might aim for the lead."
no subject
"That would be impressive. Vic says the competition's stiff at UCSD." He took a long drink of his beer. "You must be stuck in the dorms as a freshman." Which also meant that Gaël was eighteen to Carlos' twenty-three. It wasn't robbing the cradle or anything, but...
Well, he was probably a little old for him.
no subject
"I aim to impress, I don't believe in being....second best." Gaël said quite honestly as he moved a little closer to Carlos. He could have claimed it was just so he could hear better, and to let someone else pass by him. But. "I do live in the dorms, but it isn't that big of a deal. And it is temporary."
no subject
And, well, Gaël was right there. So he set his beer down and kissed him.
no subject
"Mr. Sanchez, I do declare..." He said with a laugh, as he lifted his beer. There probably wasn't a reason to keep nursing it and making small talk, he thought. Not after that kiss. "I know a place...not far from here. It's quiet enough to talk."
Yeah. 'Talk'.
no subject
"I hope I haven't shocked you to your toes," he said in an imitation of a western twang - no one in New Mexico actually had that accent anymore - before he laughed and picked up his own beer and took another long drink to drain it.
"Yeah?" He said. "Let's go."
no subject
"Well, you made them curl," Gaël promised. Setting the empty glass to the side, smirked. "Drink up, sailor." He said, before biting his lower lip, looking Carlos up and down for a moment. "Meet you outside. Gonna take a piss."
Among other things. If there was one thing Gaël had learned in his relatively short life, it was how to make the most out of impromptu sex.
no subject
He didn't have a long wait, though, before Gael came out, and his eyes heated slightly as he smirked. "Ready to go?"
no subject
"Hope you're not shy," he said, as he pulled Carlos back and into the shadows of the trees. And taking him back to the room wasn't likely a good option. Justin would be there, and he wasn't up to having sex while his roommate watched.
"Come here," he said softly, as he pulled the other man closer for a deep, hungry kiss.
no subject
There was a trick to not being caught at this, though, and it was all about how much you could do and how quiet you could be while you did it. Carlos kind of thought of it as a game, really.
He got the feeling that Gaël liked to play that game as much as him.
no subject
Eventually he dropped to his knees, pulling Carlos' pants open and down. He couldn't claim that he didn't enjoy sex, that much was certain. And he took his time before he slipped the condom onto Carlos, and they took their time still as things moved on. It was only a few moments, this late, that they had to pause and stand still as others walked by. Each second sent a bit of a thrill through his body, and honestly...
It had been too long since he'd had sex. Good sex. Jacking off in the shower certainly didn't count, anyway.
no subject
Well, he thought, tipping his head back, he definitely didn't regret letting Vic harangue him into going to a musical tonight. He might have to actually thank her later. She'd really enjoy that.
no subject
"I'll have to thank your sister," he managed to get out against Carlos' still clothed shoulder as he slipped his hands over Carlos' body beneath his damp shirt. "I mean....really. If she hadn't been so damn slow in getting out." Because this had been well worth dealing with the upper class-men and their endless love triangles.

Victoria wasn't quite as bohemian as she wanted to be, and some of his wilder impulses drove her up a wall. He was pretty sure sex with an eighteen year old in the park would be in the Carlos WHY column for her. It was in the Carlos WHY NOT column for him, which was the only one that mattered.
"We should do this again," he said as he shrugged back into his jacket and picked Gaël's fallen phone off the grass. "Definitely worth an encore." To get into the theatrical parlance of it all.
no subject
"I would not say no," he said after he buttons up jeans back up. They felt too tight, even now. "Definitely worth an encore, and then some." He agreed as he fished out something to write with. Though the only thing he could find was a sharpie, and no paper. Well, that just left one thing...
Gael leaned in and kissed Carlos deeply again, before he knelt down and wrote his number rather playfully on Carlos' stomach, and signed his name a bit stylishly. He let the man's shirt fall over the writing as he stood. "That way you can't lose it without really trying," he assured Carlos, with a waggle of his brows.
no subject
He handed Gaël his phone with an amused look. "I'll text you," he said. "Next time I'll have to make sure to leave my own mark."
no subject
"Guess I should let you go," even if he could go for another round. And if they lingered too long, he was going to go for it.
no subject
It was probably best to wait, though. They could do a lot more with a bed than with the ground in this park. "Mm," he said as he leaned in to give Gaël another deep kiss. If he'd realized how this night was going to go, he would have sprung for a hotel room he could take Gaël back to. Next time.
"I'm going to fuck you brainless next time," he breathed into Gaël's ear. "Think about that tonight."
Then he stepped back and gave Gaël a wink. "I'll be in touch," he said as he stepped onto one of the lit paths and turned to walk back towards the line of bars and the campus where his car was parked.
no subject
He rather hoped it wasn't going to be that long before next time. Else he might lose his mind. And he was unable to wipe that self satisfied smile from his face as he thought about it on his walk home.
Yup, he was definitely thanking Victoria the next time he saw her. Which would be tomorrow.
