mightbedrunk: ([seductive] come around here often?)

[ota] what goes around, comes around

Leona Matthews was not a fan of being at work late on a Friday night, especially when her boss was preoccupied with his love affair. And love affair was pretty much the only way to put it when it came to Hadyn Novak's thing with Elisha. They weren't 'together', but come on- she could see the look that crossed Elisha's face when Hadyn's number popped up on caller ID. It was like a damn love struck puppy.

All of which was a moot point at the moment, except that she was organizing Elisha's filesfor his Monday board meetings because he'd decided to skip out to see his player. But all that aside? Now was the time for getting out and away. She rode the lift down and was all but sprinting through the lobby, heels click and clacking against the marble floor before she spotted a silent lurker.

"I'm pretty sure now is the time to leave- because it is dark, and Friday, and all that." She said, smiling at the other person. "Buy you a drink, love?"

At least it was a good response. It went well with her general lack of inquiry as to why he was typing rather than speaking--although that, given the fact they worked in the same building, might also have been a matter of word finally having gotten properly around.

Either way, the bob of his head was entirely agreeable.

Or to take the late shift.

For being someone who communicated primarily in signed languages, Cadogan had long since perfected a fairly blank affect. It didn't stop one brow from arching with something like a calm amusement at her assessment of the state of women in their building.

And, well. She probably wouldn't mangle it too badly if she was fond of the Welsh. Cadogan. It's a pleasure.

It sounded much more like when his mother said it than it had in a while. Hell, it sounded more like when Helena said it, really.

Odd but not unwelcome.

Be heading out about 4am.

He needed a moment of thought before he could type properly in response. It was actually one of the nice things about working with the phone rather than his hands--it built in time to think.

I don't know that public morning beer is the image we want to project.

Private morning drinking, though. That was clearly on the table.

He couldn't laugh. It was a physical limitation. That didn't mean he wasn't going to let out a wry little huff of breath at that.

Was going to say 'professional.' But, well. For professional curiosity. What qualifies as 'right,' exactly?

This laugh comes out much more properly. It still isn't a sound so much as a rough catch of breath in his throat that puff out with mirth about it, but it's accompanied by a smile.

That's the closest he gets.

Do people do that here? I'd have thought we'd left proper golf behind.

Maybe.

She came from the same place he did. She'd probably recognize the actual high level of approval in that simple answer.

It was bordering on ridiculousness, really. Sitting at the desk wasn't something that was designed to end in being handed a woman's number.

Not that there was any objection remotely at all.

The phone had to go silent, briefly, so he could punch the number into it once it was scrawled out fully.

Cheers.
