There was a certain tendency among all the Kagan siblings, Micah though as flipped the burgers on the grill, to get excited about whatever was amazing for them right now, and forget for a bit about...other stuff. Izak usually wound down a lot faster than Sarah, at least, did. He hadn't really hung around Ty enough to get a feel for it.

So he was patient while Izak opened beers and talked excitedly about the call he'd gotten from the CDC, even though he'd frankly hated Atlanta. He was sliding the burgers onto a plate and putting it onto their deck table when his boyfriend wound down and glanced at him with a wary expression.

Because Micah's hate of Atlanta hadn't been much of a secret.

"About that," Micah said. "I got an interesting call myself today." And that had been part of the deal with moving to Atlanta the first time; when Micah got a career opportunity that was to him what the CDC was to Izak, he was going to get to follow his dreams.

NASA was pretty much that opportunity, really.

One thing to could be said about holidays in the Kagan home- it was always dramatic. In those rare moments that Ty was under the same roof with the rest of them, there was usually screaming between him and someone else at some point. Heather suspected that he was still dealing....dealing the war, the sudden child thing, mental illness. It probably didn't excuse him, at all, but there was some of his behavior that familiar.

"Ty's taking Ollie to the airport." Heather, said after Hadyn and Ollie had disappeared from the kitchen. Hadyn to deal with, as usual, the screaming. Ollie left to pack up the rest of his stuff, coffee in hand. And that left Heather and Micah to, well, fend for themselves. "Do you think drama can be bred into a family line?" There had to be some sort of explanation.
